The rest of the home moved; this room didn’t.
The living spaces had color and life, yet the main bedroom — the room buyers weigh most — showed as an empty pale box. White walls, white bedding, no art: tours passed through in seconds, and feedback kept calling the room “small,” though it measured a generous fourteen feet.
We layered the bed with ivory, sand, and slate blues, hung one large calm print above the headboard, and flanked it with mismatched-but-friendly nightstands and lamps. A bench at the foot and a reading chair in the corner gave the room two places to land — suddenly it felt like the biggest room in the home.
The bedroom image moved up to third in the gallery and tour times in the room tripled. Nine days after the reshoot, the sellers accepted an offer 8.6% above asking.
Tours used to pass through the bedroom in seconds. After staging, couples sat down in it — and then they wrote.
