A lovely home with one shadowy spot.
The lower floors presented beautifully, yet the finished attic — actually the biggest bedroom in the home — looked narrow and dim in pictures. Angled ceilings soaked up the daylight, and the owners’ bulky pieces made the low eaves feel like they were pressing inward. After forty days listed, tours were slowing and the attic kept coming up as the sticking point.
We began by taking away. The queen bed and weighty dresser left; a low daybed slid beneath the peak, a reading chair turned toward the dormer window, and a tall mirror carried light across the space. Soft bedding, a single olive tree, and a small pile of art books completed the picture: less a tight attic, more a quiet getaway.
The refreshed lead image — morning light falling across the daybed — gave the whole listing a second chance. Nine tours the first weekend, three offers by the next Friday, and a final price 9.2% above asking.
Visitors arrived asking for “the attic from the listing pictures.” I have never seen one room carry so much of a sale.
